experience

After a short hiatus, Don and Darcy are back guiding in Ecuador!  We tried to move on but it's hard to leave a place you know and love.  Don's been guiding there since 1995 and Darcy since 2001.  What our guests tell us they like most about paddling with us in Ecuador is how well we know the rivers.  "It's uncanny," they say, how we can memorize the placement of each rock and hole on so many different rivers.  We also know all the reliable and safe drivers, the best restaurants, bars, and hotels to give you a hassle-free vacation.  We'll be splitting our time between hotels in Baeza and Tena, and if you are a serious paddler who doesn't want to waste time messing around, you will love paddling with us.   Ecuador's weather and river levels are volatile, but we know the best places to paddle whether we have high, medium or low water.

We love catering to paddlers who are obsessed with their sport and we ensure you will get your kayaking fill with us in Ecuador!  We even wrote the guidebook to Kayaking in Ecuador!  Buy our book if you want to learn more about the incredible paddling in Ecuador.

about Ecuador

Over the past three years, Don and I have traveled to kayaking destinations throughout the world and the one thing we are constantly reminded of is how incredible Ecuador's paddling is.  We've found awesome destinations on our travels but nothing that quite compares to the variety and accessibility of Ecuador's rivers.   Ecuador pretty much has it all--steep creeks, challenging big water runs, play runs, warm weather, beautiful scenery and friendly locals.  Perhaps the best thing about Ecuador is the bang for your buck you'll get.  Thanks to the sheer number of rivers and their proximity in the Quijos and Napo Valleys, with just one week off from work, you can paddle seven quality days.   You'll be exhausted but happy by the end of the week!  With smooth granite boulders, green rainforest, abundant bird life and boofs alike, Ecuador is pretty hard to beat.  Plus, we've logged more rivers days in Ecuador than almost anyone which means we will get you on the best river possible each day.  In the last decade, Ecuador has become a top winter paddling destination.  So what are you waiting for?  Come experience it for yourself with 2 of the best guides in the business!
